All applications are accepted exclusively though ERAS, from Sept 1st to Nov 30th. We will be "all-in" the match per the NRMP new regulations. Please do not expect any chance of pre-matching to our program. If you will be planning to prematch somewhere you should probably not be applying to Jacobi Medical Center for Internal Medicine Residency.
In order to maintain our standards of excellence here at Jacobi, applicants should score at least a 220 on Step 1 and Step 2 CK and must pass Step 2CS (All exams must be passed on the first attempt). While these criteria are not set in stone, they strongly influence our decisions. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed until all documents are uploaded to ERAS. The required documents include: current USMLE scores, CV, personal statement, 3-4 letters of recommendation, medical school transcript, and an MSPE from your medical school. We suggest that you get these all in to ERAS as soon as possible in order to ensure that your file is reviewed as early in the season as possible.
International Medical Graduates requesting H-1 and J-1 visas are considered. Please note however, that applicants with H-1 visas must pass Step 3 prior to match day or we will need to begin applying for a J1 visa to ensure that you can begin residency on time.
We receive around 5,000 applications for our 30 categorical and 8 preliminary PGY-1 openings each year. We usually interview about 8% of these applicants.
Due to the large volume of applications that we review, it is not always possible for us to contact all applicants immediately. Please do not call with questions or to ask about the status of your application. If you are selected for an interview, we will contact you.
